. . . Links to other websites
If one of these links does not work, please email me at george@wiman.us so I can fix it. The authors of these sites are responsible for their own material: if you read something on one of them that you don't like, write to them about it. Write to me about stuff on my website.

Humor (Yes, you can infer something from the fact that I put these links first)

Environmental, public health and safety

Humanism

Education and media

  • Snopes.com - Urban legend busting site. This site could go in "humor" because it is very funny and somewhat addictive, but it also serves an extremely useful purpose - countering the canon of urban legend and pure stupidity that lands in our inboxes.
  • Logical Fallacies - a section of the Nizkor Project devoted to explaining various common logical fallacies, such as straw man, appeal to authority, etc.

Interesting People

Anachronisms

Useful places to shop

Political, nonviolence, and human rights

  • Martin Luther King - The King Center home page
  • Reason.com - the website for Reason magazine, devoted to personal freedom. Tired of the government telling you what you can say and do?
  • Working for Change - environmental and public policy issues from the faaaaar left. But don't get too smug - they're 100% right about half of this stuff (as opposed to being half right about everything.) The trick is knowing which half.
  • Issues & Views - A different perspective on civil rights
  • Adversity.net - "A Civil Rights Organization For Color Blind Justice."

Disclaimer: The web pages listed here are created and maintained by other people. So if you click on the other links, you are leaving this site and going somewhere else. Aren't disclaimers dumb? "Caution: keep hands away from moving saw blade." "Superman costume does not enable wearer to fly."
